Update

A firmware patch update involves applying modifications, fixes, or enhancements to the software components of the operating system. These updates, provided as patches, may include security enhancements, bug fixes, and new feature additions.

The update process is managed through the system’s package management system, ensuring that the software remains secure, stable, and up-to-date.

Steps to Perform a Patch Update

  1. Open amz_Secureshell and log in with the appropriate credentials. Upon logging in, a menu with various options will appear.
  2. Select Option 19 to access the patch update functionality within the amz_Secureshell interface.
  3. Choose Option 2 to initiate the firmware update process.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to provide all necessary information for the firmware update.

    Complete the following prompts to configure the firmware update:

    • Protocol Name: Enter the protocol for the update (e.g., ftp, scp, http, https).
      Example: scp
    • Server IP: Specify the IP address of the server hosting the firmware.
      Example: 10.200.3.103
    • Port: Provide the port number for the connection.
      Example: 22
    • Path: Enter the path to the firmware on the server.
      Example: /home/qarelease/1.2-01.1023/patch-bpir64-1.2-01.1023-1.2-01.1022
    • Image File Name: Provide the name of the firmware image file.
      Example: patch-bpir64-1.2-01.1023-Nov29-2023-150359.bin
    • Backup Current Firmware: Specify whether to back up the current firmware (true/false).
      Example: true
    • Server Username: Enter the username for server access.
      Example: root
    • Server Password: Enter the server password (input will be hidden).

    After entering each piece of information, press Enter to proceed to the next prompt. The patch file will begin downloading, and the patch update process will start once the download completes.

    Note: Ensure that all information is entered accurately during the firmware update to avoid any disruptions or errors.
