z40 Quick Install Guide

  1. Unbox Unit

Unbox the unit and ensure the following is packaged:

    • 1x z40
    • 1x power supply
    • 4x 5G antennae
    • 2x 4G antennae
    • 3x Wi-Fi antennae
    • 1x GPS antenna
  2. Connect antennae

    • Connect 5G antennae: Connect the four antennae labeled ‘5G’ on the right side of the z40, when looking at the front of the system.
    • Connect 4G antennae: Connect the two antennae labeled ‘4G’ according to the image above on left side of the system.
    • Connect Wi-Fi antennae: Connect the three antennae labeled ‘Wi-Fi’ on the ports on the front side of the system.
    • Connect GPS antenna: Connect the single antenna labeled ‘GPS’ in between the 4G ports on the left side of the system.
  3. Connect Networking

Connect required WAN and LAN networks to the system into the appropriate ports on the back of the z40. WAN networks will be plugged into the ‘WAN’ ports and LAN networks will be connected to the ‘LAN’ ports.

  4. Power On Unit

Connect the included power unit to the power port on the bottom right side of the back panel of the z40. Connect the power adapter to an outlet to power on the unit.

  5. Configure z40 in Network Fabric

There are two methods by which the z40 can be integrated into an existing network fabric. Please see the below for details on how to implement either option:

    • Integrate into existing network firewall

The quickest method of integration is to integrate the z40 behind an existing network firewall. A few simple steps will get the z40 up and running:

      1. Connect the ‘WAN’ port on the z40 to the existing firewall.
      2. Login to the z40 management console and set a static IP on the WAN port on the z40.
        • Go to Interfaces in the left-hand navigation tree and then click the three dots on the top-right corner of ‘WAN00’ to bring up a menu and select Add IP.
        • Type in the required information for the static IP and click Add.
        • Click on the three dots again and select Disable DHCP. This will remove the DHCP IP and ensure only the static IP is running on the WAN interface.
      3. Configure the default gateway on the corporate network to point to the static IP set on the z40. This will ensure that all traffic goes through the z40. This will vary based on your individual network setup.
    • Setup z40 as primary firewall

z40 can also be setup to replace the current firewall in it’s entirety. The following steps will get the z40 setup as a primary firewall:

      1. Main ISP line(s) need to be connected to ‘WAN’ port(s) on the z40.
      2. LAN port(s) from the z40 will need to be connected to switch(es) for connectivity to corporate devices.
      3. DHCP scopes need to be defined in z40 management console for each LAN port connected.
      4. Firewall rules need to be implemented in z40 management console to mirror rules in old firewall.
