Onboarding Procedure

The below steps will help you onboard new devices into your tenant in the zWAN Director.

1. Login to zWAN Director and click on the Onboarding option in the navigation tree under the Configuration section.

2. Hover over the desired device and click on the  icon to begin the onboarding process.

3. Input a Name and Description for the device. Metadata can also be input in the form of key/value pairs. In the example below, metadata for location has been added, including keys of location, longitude, and latitude with appropriate values.

   Give each device a substring that can be filtered such as sales01, where sales is the filterable substring or add extra metadata such as department as the key and sales as the value. These will be used for grouping later on.
4. Once all desired information has been input, click on the ONBOARD button.
5. Continue the above steps for all required devices that are listed.
6. If necessary, click on the Edge Controllers option in the navigation tree and click on the ADD GROUP button to create a a group to filter your devices in order to easily track specific devices.
7. Enter a Name for the group and a Description. There are two filtering options – you may filter based on substrings in each device’s name (such as sales for any device with the substring sales in it’s name) or you may filter based on metadata tags (such as a key/value pair of department/sales). Enter the appropriate information based on your filtering choice and click on the ADD button.
