Endpoint Sessions

Quick Overview

The Endpoint Sessions page in zAccess provides real-time visibility into active user sessions across all enrolled endpoint devices.
Each session entry displays detailed telemetry, authentication status, device posture, applied policies, and session-level diagnostics.
This module is essential for administrators seeking to monitor access activity, verify policy enforcement, and troubleshoot connectivity or compliance issues.

How to Use This Feature in the UI

  1. Navigate to Endpoint Sessions:
Log in to the zAccess Director UI.
In the left-hand navigation panel, expand Endpoint Sessions.
  2. Explore the Sessions Grid:
View a list of endpoint devices currently logged in through zAccess. Each row represents a unique session instance for a connected client.
  3. Access Detailed Session View:
Click on any session entry to open a multi-tabbed detailed view. Tabs include:

    • Client: Device identity, hostname, logged-in user.
    • Management Tunnel: Status of the management tunnel (e.g., active, dropped).
    • Policy: Policy name currently applied and source (e.g., ruleset match).
    • Operating System: OS type and version.
    • System: System resource stats (CPU, RAM usage).
    • Network: IP, gateway, SSID, MAC, and other interface info.
    • Gateway: Associated gateway device and subnet.
    • Firewall: Detected firewall status or conflicts.
    • Antivirus: Installed AV software and real-time protection status.
  4. Filtering & Search:
Use the top-right search/filter bar to find devices based on MAC, IP, username, policy, or status.

Concepts & Use Cases

  • Session Monitoring: Gain insight into who is connected, from where, and under what conditions.
  • Policy Verification: Confirm whether users received the intended policy post-login.
  • Troubleshooting: Investigate access issues such as failed policy application.
  • Security Auditing: Track unauthorized attempts or posture failures.
  • Operational Insights: Detect performance issues like high resource usage or network latency.

Troubleshooting & FAQs

Why is a device not showing up in the Endpoint Sessions list?
Ensure the zAccess client is installed and running. Verify network connectivity and check onboarding status in the Director UI.
A policy is not applied to the endpoint—what should I check?
Review the Ruleset tab to ensure conditions are satisfied. Confirm correct gateway assignment and group memberships (MAC/IP/SSID).
How often is session information updated?
Session data is refreshed on login and periodically thereafter. The interval is configurable.
