Event Logs

Event Logs

Summary

Event Logs capture informational, warning, and error messages generated across zMAN components, providing a timeline of system and user actions for audit and troubleshooting purposes :contentReference[oaicite:1]{index=1}.

Accessing Event Logs

  1. Navigate to **Event Logs** in the zMAN UI.
  2. Use filters to narrow by:
    • Service (e.g., zDM, zID, MinIO, API)
    • Level (Info, Warning, Error)
    • Date/time range
  3. Click a log entry to view full details, including stack traces or payloads when available.

Key Log Sources

  • zMAN UI/API: user actions, authentication events, API calls
  • zDM: device check-ins, command dispatch, telemetry errors
  • MinIO: file uploads/downloads, access key usage, policy errors
  • Database: connectivity and query execution errors

Analyzing Events

  • Correlate Task failures with zDM or Device error logs by matching timestamps.
  • Export log entries to CSV for offline analysis or compliance retention.
  • Use the **Search** bar to find entries by keywords, device ID, or error code.

Retention & Archiving

  • By default, logs are retained for 30 days; adjust retention policy in zMAN’s configuration files for longer or shorter periods.
  • Archive older logs by exporting them via the UI or downloading directly from the PostgreSQL backend.
