App Groups

Quick Overview

App Groups in zAccess allow administrators to bundle multiple individual application entries into a single logical group. These groups can then be referenced within policies for easier management and consistent access enforcement across related applications.

How to Use This Feature in the UI

  1. Navigate to Policy Configuration > App Groups in the zAccess UI.
  2. Click ADD GROUP.
  3. Enter a Group Name that clearly describes the collection of apps (e.g., “Collaboration Tools” or “Finance Apps”).
  4. Select one or more apps from the available list to include in the group.
  5. Click Save to finalize the group configuration.

Concepts & Use Cases

  • Policy Simplification: Reference a single group instead of multiple individual app entries when building access policies.
  • Thematic Grouping: Organize applications based on use case, department, or sensitivity (e.g., productivity, internal tools, cloud services).
  • Bulk Enforcement: Apply the same gateway routing and access conditions to all apps within a group simultaneously.
  • Scalability: Easily expand access rules by updating app group membership rather than editing multiple policies individually.

Troubleshooting & FAQs

  • Why aren’t apps showing up in the selection list?
Ensure the individual apps have been configured under the Apps section prior to creating a group.
  • Can I assign the same app to multiple app groups?
Yes, apps can belong to more than one group.
  • How are group-level settings applied?
App groups do not override individual app settings but provide a bundled reference point within policies.
  • Are there limits on the number of apps per group?
There is no hard-coded limit, but performance best practices recommend grouping apps meaningfully and not excessively.
