Quick Overview
The Topology page in zWAN provides an interactive map-based visualization of all Edge Controllers (CPEs) managed by the Director. It allows administrators to monitor tunnel connectivity (IPSec/SSL), view device performance in real time, execute quick device actions, and manage onboarding. The central Director (Hub/Data Center) is shown connecting to branch Edge Controllers, offering a high-level view of the network’s operational structure and health.
How to Use This Feature in the UI
- Navigate to the Topology page in the Director UI.
- The map will render a central Hub and connected Branch Devices based on tunnel status and location metadata.
- Use available features by interacting with device nodes or UI panels:
- Hover over a device to open the visual panel on the left with live performance metrics (WAN, LAN, IPSec/SSL).
- Click icons around each device for quick actions like editing, rebooting, or dashboard access.
- Access settings and notifications from the top-right UI bar.
Concepts & Use Cases
- Real-Time Network Topology: Visualize how Edge Controllers connect through encrypted tunnels to the Director and identify geographic deployment patterns.
- Device Health Monitoring: Check IPSec/SSL tunnel status and performance telemetry to identify anomalies or outages.
- Operational Efficiency: Execute high-frequency actions like reboot or interface edits directly from the topology view.
- User-Centric Visualization: Offer administrators an intuitive, map-driven experience for accessing device-level diagnostics and events.
Troubleshooting & FAQs
- Why isn’t a device appearing on the topology map?
Ensure the device is onboarded and has valid location metadata. Devices without tunnel status or coordinates may not be displayed. - How do I add a new device from this page?
Use the Add Location option, which redirects to the onboarding interface. - What does a tunnel-down status mean?
The Edge Controller is unreachable over the IPSec or SSL tunnel. Check connectivity, authentication, and firewall settings. - Can I change map zoom or layout?
Map behavior depends on UI settings in the account panel. Adjust visualization preferences from there.
