Overview
In Station Mode (STA), the zWAN Edge Controller joins an existing Wi-Fi network to provide WAN/Internet connectivity along with Ethernet and LTE options. During startup, the zWAN stack creates a Wi-Fi Station interface (SWANXX
) for each supported Wi-Fi hardware device (e.g., phyX
or wlanX
). This interface is mapped to the WANXX
alias in the interface list.
Station Management Functionality
- Scan Wi-Fi Networks
- Identifies available Wi-Fi networks for connection.
- Configure Wi-Fi Network
- Sets up parameters for connecting to a Wi-Fi network.
- Connect to Wi-Fi Network
- Initiates connection to the selected network.
- Disconnect from Wi-Fi Network
- Disconnects from the current network.
- Delete/Forget Wi-Fi Network
- Removes saved settings for a specific Wi-Fi network.
Known Hardware Limitations – MT7622 SOC
The MT7622 SOC supports 2.4 GHz channels (1–11/14) with 802.11agn
. If Station Mode attempts to connect to a network on a different frequency channel than the one used by AP Mode, the hardware requires both modes to be on the same channel. To address this, AP Mode will temporarily stop and restart with the same channel selected by Station Mode during configuration or connection.
