Web Categories
Overview
zWAN edge devices categorizes Internet traffic into multiple categories such as Gaming Social Arts Chat Sports etc.. These categories can then be used for functionalities like firewall and packet steering.
Functionality
Following are the current functionalities available with the Web Categorization

Custom Business Applications
The users can define custom business applications via the Director UI which can then be used to add firewall, load balancer, and QoS Rules.
The apps can be defined based on single IP or range of IPs, port or range of ports, and either TCP or UDP protocol.
Once this is configured, the app will pop up in template configurations (Eg below is 3CX), using which the Firewall, Load Balancer and QoS rules can be pushed to induvidual Edge controllers
For standalone deployments, the user can add the same via Firewall as show below
Adding Custom FQDN
Custom FQDNs which are not part of the Amzetta repos can be added at any time using firewall, load balancer or QoS rules as shown below
Domain reference
A user can search for the particular FQDN and check which category it belongs to. The default list of fqdns point to the most frequently used fqdns defined by Amzetta. This list can be viewed based on category.
Known Limitations:
- DNS Caching and Policy Enforcement Delay
- Previously resolved IP addresses for a domain or URL may continue to be used until the DNS cache expires or is refreshed.
- As a result, a domain or URL may remain accessible for a short period after a blocking policy is applied, or may remain blocked after being allowed.
- The updated policy will take effect only after the relevant cache entries are cleared or expire.
