Sandbox Trial Configuration

The steps below will enable you to get the Sandbox Trial of AmZetta’s zPortal product configured so you may get familiar with how the product works. Whether you need to setup virtual applications, shared desktops, or dedicated desktops (VDI), you will be able to find instructions below to get that configured quickly and easily. Once all of that is configured, you will also find instructions for how to setup the zPortal zClient and how to actually connect to whatever virtualization resources you configured from within the zPortal Management Console.

Note: Please ensure you have followed the steps outlined in the email you received before continuing with the steps below.

zPortal Management Console

  1. Open web browser and navigate to the zPortal URL found in the attached .zip.
    Note: When accessing for the first time, you may receive a warning. To continue, click Advanced and then Proceed or Continue.
  2. Use administrator credentials provided to login to Management Console.
  3. Navigate to Workspace in the navigation tree and it will reveal a set of options.

Add applications

  1. Select Applications under Workspace.
  2. Click Add button.
  3. Click on the selector that shows Select Session Team and select Windows Default.
  4. Click on the selector that shows Select RDS Server and select zPortal Session Host.
  5. Click Browse button.
  6. Navigate to one of the paths given in the attached .zip to add the required application.
  7. Type a display name for the application in the Application Display Name input box.
  8. Click Next.
  9. Select any options required for deployment and click Next.
  10. Click the checkbox next to zPortal Session Host and click Next.
  11. Click Add button to add users that will have access to this application.
  12. Click on the Client Type selector and choose Group.
  13. Type in the group name found in the attached .zip into the search input box and click the search magnifying glass.
  14. Click the checkbox next to the group and click OK.
  15. Click the checkbox next to the group name and click Save.

Add desktops

  1. Click Desktop Pools under Workspace.
  2. Click Add New Pool.
  3. Enter a name for the pool in the Name input box.
  4. Select User based for Entitlement Type.

Shared Desktops

  1. Select Shared Hosted Desktop for Desktop Pool Type.
  2. Click the Select Server Team selector and choose Windows Default.
  3. Click the Connection Profiles selector and choose Default Profile.
  4. Click Next.
  5. Click Add Users button to add users that will have access to this desktop.
  6. Click on the Client Type selector and choose Group.
  7. Type in the group name found in the attached .zip into the search input box and click the search magnifying glass.
  8. Click the checkbox next to the group and click OK.
  9. Click the checkbox next to the group name and click Next.
  10. Click Finish.

Dedicated Desktops

  1. Select Non-Persistent Virtual Desktop for Desktop Pool Type.
  2. Click the Assignment Life Span selector and select Floating Desktop.
  3. Click the Connection Profiles selector and choose Default Profile.
  4. Click Next.
  5. Click Browse and choose the name of the golden image references in the .zip. Click OK.
  6. Enter a prefix for the names of the desktops in the Desktop Name Prefix input box.
  7. Select Linked Clone for Clone Type.
  8. Enter 5 for Max Desktop Capacity.
  9. Click Next.
  10. Enter a prefix name for the VDI desktops in the Computer Name field.
  11. Click the radio button for Join Domain to enable the domain options.
  12. Type amzetta.demo in the Domain Name textbox.
  13. Use the admin credentials found in the attached .zip for UsernamePassword, and Confirm Domain Password textboxes.
  14. Select English (World) from the Select Locale selector.
  15. Leave all other fields blank and click Next.
  16. Click Add Users button to add users that will have access to this desktop.
  17. Click on the Client Type selector and choose Group.
  18. Type in the group name found in the attached .zip into the search input box and click the search magnifying glass.
  19. Click the checkbox next to the group and click OK.
  20. Click the checkbox next to the group name and click Next.
  21. Click Next.
  22. Click Next.
  23. Click Finish.

zPortal Client

  1. Once connected, proceed to installing the zPortal Client. Installation instructions for zPortal Client can be found here.
  2. Open the zPortal Client and click on the Settings icon.
  3. Select Specify zPortal Controller address and input the zPortal DNS name found in the attached .zip. Keep the port number the default value (38866).
  4. Click Test and Apply.
  5. Use credentials from the list provided in the attached .zip to login.
  6. Select from available desktops/applications to launch and test overall usability.
