VNC Password
Overview
The VNC Password feature in zMan Director allows administrators to configure password-based authentication for remote VNC access to managed zTC devices.
This functionality helps secure remote device access by requiring authentication before establishing a VNC session.
VNC Authentication
When VNC access is enabled for a managed zTC device, a VNC password may be configured to restrict unauthorized remote access attempts.
Administrators can use VNC authentication to:
- Secure remote desktop access
- Restrict unauthorized VNC sessions
- Support remote troubleshooting operations
- Provide controlled remote support access
Remote Device Access
VNC access may be used during:
- Remote troubleshooting
- Device support operations
- Remote administration
- User assistance sessions
Availability of VNC connectivity depends on:
- Device connectivity status
- zDM communication availability
- Network accessibility
- Deployment configuration
Security Considerations
Administrators should use secure password management practices when configuring VNC access.
Recommended practices include:
- Using strong passwords
- Limiting password sharing
- Rotating passwords periodically
- Restricting VNC access to authorized administrators
Operational Notes
VNC connectivity behavior may vary depending on:
- WAN or LAN deployment mode
- zDM configuration
- Firewall policies
- Remote network accessibility
Some deployment configurations may require additional network or tunnel configuration for remote VNC access.
Troubleshooting
If VNC access is unavailable:
- Verify the zTC device is online
- Verify zDM connectivity
- Confirm network accessibility
- Verify remote access configuration
- Confirm password authentication settings
Notes
- VNC functionality depends on active device communication through zDM.
- Some deployment models may require additional WAN or tunnel configuration.
- Authentication behavior may vary depending on deployment architecture.
