Power Management

Overview

Power Management settings in zMan Director allow administrators to configure power-related behavior for managed zTC devices.

Power Management settings can be created as part of a reusable device settings configuration and applied to individual zTC devices or groups of devices.

Power Management Configuration

Documented Power Management options include:

  • Wake on LAN
  • Wake on USB

These options help administrators control how suspended devices can be brought back online.

Wake on LAN

Wake on LAN allows a supported zTC device to be awakened over the network when the required hardware, firmware, and network conditions are available.

This option is useful when administrators need to restore suspended devices without physically accessing each endpoint.

Wake on USB

Wake on USB allows a supported zTC device to wake from a suspended state when activity is detected from a connected USB device.

This may be useful in environments where users interact with keyboards, mice, or other USB peripherals to resume the device.

Applying Power Management Settings

Power Management settings may be applied to:

  • Individual zTC devices
  • Groups of zTC devices

This allows administrators to standardize power behavior across managed endpoints.

Notes

  • Wake on LAN works only within the same subnet.
  • Wake options apply to suspended devices.
  • Wake behavior may depend on device hardware, firmware, BIOS settings, and network configuration.
  • Power Management settings should be reviewed before applying Power Schedule operations.
