WiFi

Overview

WiFi settings in zMan Director allow administrators to configure wireless network settings for managed zTC devices.

WiFi settings can be created as part of a reusable device settings configuration and applied to individual zTC devices or groups of devices.

WiFi Configuration

WiFi settings may be used to configure wireless connectivity for supported zTC devices.

Depending on deployment configuration, WiFi settings may include wireless network details such as:

  • Wireless network name
  • Authentication method
  • Security settings
  • Connection behavior

Available fields may vary depending on device firmware and supported wireless capabilities.

Applying WiFi Settings

WiFi settings may be applied to:

  • Individual zTC devices
  • Groups of zTC devices

This allows administrators to standardize wireless configuration across managed endpoints.

Operational Considerations

Before applying WiFi settings, administrators should confirm that:

  • The zTC device supports WiFi
  • The wireless network information is correct
  • The device can reach zDM after the wireless configuration is applied
  • The configuration does not interrupt required management connectivity

Common Use Cases

WiFi settings may be used to:

  • Configure wireless access for mobile or flexible endpoint deployments
  • Standardize wireless network settings across devices
  • Support environments where wired network access is unavailable
  • Apply consistent WiFi configuration to device groups

Notes

  • WiFi settings depend on device hardware and firmware support.
  • Incorrect wireless configuration may prevent a zTC device from reconnecting to zDM.
  • WiFi settings should be tested on a small number of devices before broad deployment.
  • Some network changes may require local access if the device becomes unreachable.
