Syslog Configuration

Overview

Syslog settings in zMan Director allow administrators to configure a syslog server for managed zTC devices.

Syslog configuration can be used to send device log information to a centralized logging server for monitoring, troubleshooting, and operational review.

Syslog Settings

Syslog Configuration

Syslog settings allow administrators to define where device log information should be sent.

The configuration may include:

  • Syslog server address
  • Port
  • Protocol
  • Log level or logging behavior

Available fields may vary depending on firmware version and deployment configuration.

Centralized Logging

Using a syslog server helps administrators collect logs from managed zTC devices in one location.

Centralized logging may help with:

  • Troubleshooting device issues
  • Reviewing system behavior
  • Monitoring device activity
  • Supporting audit or operational review workflows

Applying Syslog Settings

Syslog settings may be applied to:

  • Individual zTC devices
  • Groups of zTC devices

This allows administrators to standardize logging configuration across managed endpoints.

Notes

  • Syslog settings depend on network reachability between the zTC device and the syslog server.
  • Firewall rules may need to allow syslog traffic.
  • Incorrect syslog configuration may prevent logs from reaching the intended server.
  • Syslog settings should be tested before broad deployment.
