VPN

Overview

VPN in zMan Director allows administrators to manage device-level VPN settings for selected zTC devices.

This workflow is used when a managed zTC device requires VPN configuration for secure network connectivity.

Device-Level VPN Management

VPN management is available from the device management workflow for selected zTC endpoints.

Administrators may use this feature to apply or manage VPN-related configuration for an individual device.

VPN Configuration

VPN configuration may be used when a zTC device needs to connect securely to a remote network or internal resource.

Depending on deployment configuration, VPN workflows may use files uploaded through Repository Management, such as OpenVPN configuration files.

OpenVPN Files

OpenVPN files can be uploaded through Repository Management and used in related deployment workflows.

OpenVPN configuration files typically use the following format:

  • .ovpn

These files may contain VPN connection settings, certificates, and other information required to establish a secure VPN connection.

Operational Considerations

Before applying VPN configuration, administrators should verify:

  • The correct VPN file or configuration is available
  • The zTC device is online
  • The device is communicating through zDM
  • The VPN configuration matches the intended network environment
  • Applying VPN settings will not interrupt required management connectivity

Notes

  • VPN behavior may vary depending on device firmware and deployment configuration.
  • OpenVPN files must be uploaded before they can be used in related workflows.
  • Incorrect VPN configuration may affect device connectivity.
  • VPN settings should be tested on a limited number of devices before broad deployment.
