Event Logs

Overview

Event Logs in zMan Director provide a centralized view of system activity, administrative actions, device events, and operational messages.

Administrators can use Event Logs to review activity across managed zTC devices and zMan workflows, including device provisioning, task activity, configuration changes, firmware operations, and system events.

Event Logs

Event Log Information

The Event Logs page may display information such as:

  • Event name
  • Event source
  • Severity
  • Device or system reference
  • Time of occurrence
  • Event message or description

This information helps administrators identify what occurred, when it occurred, and whether further action is required.

Monitoring System Activity

Event Logs can be used to monitor activity related to:

  • Device registration
  • Provisioning
  • Task execution
  • Firmware updates
  • Settings deployment
  • Profile deployment
  • Certificate deployment
  • Power operations
  • zDM communication events

Event Severity

Events may include different severity levels depending on the type of activity or issue reported.

Common severity categories may include:

  • Informational events
  • Warning events
  • Error events

Error and warning events should be reviewed to determine whether device communication, deployment, or configuration issues require attention.

Troubleshooting

Administrators can use Event Logs when troubleshooting failed or incomplete operations.

For example, Event Logs may help identify:

  • Failed task execution
  • Device provisioning issues
  • zDM communication errors
  • Invalid device or configuration states
  • Firmware update issues
  • Certificate or settings deployment failures

Notes

  • Event availability may vary depending on deployment configuration and enabled features.
  • Event messages should be reviewed together with Tasks when troubleshooting device operations.
  • Repeated warning or error events may indicate device connectivity, provisioning, or zDM communication issues.
